Mean.

I direct the children's choir at my church. In addition to teaching songs to perform during a service, I try to add in other things about music, like what a measure is, proper breathing, enunciation, and such. Today during our warm-up I was explaining that instead of "law law law," I wanted them to try to sing "lah lah lah."

"Instead of sounding like a Texan, pretend you're British and you're going to tea with the Queen," I told them.

One of my 4th graders raised her hand, "Miss Kim, I don't like the British. We're learning about the Revolutionary War at school, and they were mean to us."

The Brits may have been mean back in the 18th century, but she sang "lah lah lah" beautifully anyway.
